Our People

The facilitators of our courses are experienced, hands-on, practical people, with extensive knowledge and experience in the road transport industry, and are members of the UK-based Institute of Road Transport Engineers.

Guido Marchio is the founder and first principal of Fleet Control Services. His background is automotive technical, with experience in vehicle maintenance and repairs, maintenance management, as an advisor to transport operators in vehicle selection, maintenance programmes, and to the legal profession in litigation. He lectured at Cape Town Technical College in automotive subjects for 5 years following which he developed a course in Vehicle Fleet Control. Fleet Control Services was established at this time.

On 1 March 2018 ownership of Fleet Control Services was transferred to Karl de Villiers who is the current principal. Mr Marchio retains a minority non-executive interest.

Karl T de Villiers holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Pretoria and a Diploma in Road transportation from RAU (Today UJ). He has spent most of his career in engineering positions with major heavy road transport operators in South Africa. He presented technical subjects at the RAU holiday school contact sessions for about 6 years, and since 1985 has presented various courses on behalf of Fleet Control Services. He has appeared as expert witness in litigation involving heavy vehicle technology and also accidents. He is an accredited Workplace Assessor.

Fleet Control Services also makes use of ad-hoc facilitators who are known experts in their particular fields.
